THE PRODUCTION OF ANATOMY (1963)

A generous amount of info about the production of Anatomy remains unknown. As we discover more, we will update the site accordingly.

In an attempt to connect to his departed wife, director Milo Williams discovered the novel she had been writing in secret for years. After months of studying this unfinished book, he began drafting a screenplay for a film adaptation. In November of 1957, he began the casting process and decided on the core leads for the film. Anatomy officially began filming in January of 1958.

Money was a constant issue throughout the entire production process, delaying its completion and release. RGF would pull funding as a result of certain violent and uncomfortable sequences. Despite the horror content and plot details being made clear to the studio from the start, its marketability was frequently questioned. Filming paused in 1960 and would continue when Milo raised the proper funds. After filming wrapped, the tedious post-production process began. This included the hand drawn animated sequences and properly compositing Margret's skeletal body.
